ASoOO: A Space of One’s Own (1999)

Created in 1999 for the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, ASoOO is a dance/multi-media piece for four female dancers. The work is inspired by Virginia Woolf’s, A Room of One’s Own. And was created especially for a performance during National Women’s Month (March). ASoOO draws from Wolff’s work and the lives of George Elliot, Jane Austin and Charlotte Brontë’91. The work invited the audience onto the stage where they moved to different areas and encountered solos occurring in various spaces: the dressing rooms, the seats in the house, and the stage itself.
